Upload File

Import .pcad files from Print CAD or .pn packages into the Custom Libraries admin. Replace files without losing configuration.

Every parametric standard begins with a file upload. You can import a native Print CAD file (.pcad) that contains only the dieline geometry, or a PrintNow package file (.pn) that bundles the geometry with its full configuration — parameters, sizes, options, rules, panels, and animations.

Add a New Standard

  1. From the Custom Libraries list, click Add Standard in the toolbar.
  2. Enter a Name for the standard. This is required before saving.
  3. Select a Category from the dropdown, or leave it as "None" to categorize later.
  4. Choose the import type:
    • Import Print CAD file format (.pcad) — Imports only the dieline geometry. You will configure parameters, sizes, and other settings manually in the edit form.
    • Import PrintNow Standard with data attached (.pn) — Imports a complete package with geometry and all configuration. Use this when transferring a standard from another storefront.
  5. Click Select File to choose the file from your computer.
  6. Click Save to create the standard.

After saving, the standard appears in the Custom Libraries list and you can open it to configure or review its settings.

Add Standard Fields

FieldDescription
NameDisplay name for the standard. Required. This appears in the admin list and is used when associating the standard with products.
CategoriesProduct category to assign this standard to. Categories group related standards and control which storefront category pages display the parametric widget.
Import TypeRadio selection between .pcad (geometry only) and .pn (geometry + configuration). Choose .pn when you have a pre-configured standard to transfer.
Select FileFile picker for the .pcad or .pn file. Only the selected file type is accepted based on the import type radio selection.

Replace a File

You can replace the .pcad file on an existing standard without losing any of its configuration (parameters, sizes, options, rules, panels, animations).

  1. In the Custom Libraries list, open the overflow menu on any standard.
  2. Select Replace .pcad.
  3. In the Replace File dialog, click the upload area to select a new .pcad file.
  4. Click Save to replace the geometry.

The standard retains all existing configuration. Parameters that no longer exist in the new file will need to be removed manually. New variables introduced by the replacement file will need to be configured in the Parameters tab.

Bulk Import

To create or update multiple standards at once from a spreadsheet:

  1. From the Custom Libraries toolbar, click the overflow menu and select Import.
  2. In the Import File dialog, select an .xlsx file matching the export format.
  3. Click Save to process the import.

The spreadsheet format matches the output of the Export function. Use Export to generate a template, modify it in Excel, and re-import.

  • User Interface — Find the Add Standard and Replace .pcad actions in the admin
  • Standard Information — Configure display name, units, and category after uploading
  • Parameters — Set min/max ranges and defaults for the variables extracted from the file
